Join artist, educator, and landscape designer, Preston Montague this fall for two exciting  workshops at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville designed to inspire your inner naturalist!

1. Landscape Potential: Mountain Archetypes (Oct. 19th)

Context is a big consideration for landscape design. The mountains of southern Appalachia provide a rich source of natural and cultural history that can be contextualized in the landscape to sync one’s garden with the surrounding environment as well as provide layers of narrative. This class will look at how mountain archetypes can help solve design challenges from a property masterplan to the perfect mailbox garden.

2. The Nature of Drawing: Autumn Sketchbook (Oct. 21st -22nd)

Learn techniques for accurate and pleasurable nature-sketching during the height of fall color at the gorgeous North Carolina Arboretum, located on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville, NC. Participants will learn a range of approaches to drawing in nature to suit their personal goals and style. No drawing experience required.

  1. When I first held these cards in my hands, I said aloud, “These are beautiful!”
In times accustomed to mediocrity, it’s uncommon to see work so finely wrought as Mr. Montague’s illustrations.
These prints and cards are stand-outs. They’re definitely “worth it.”
